Solar ReUse

ReUSE functioning solar panels before recycling.

Solar ReUse

Brighten Haiti screens used solar panels to identify safe and productive systems that can be reused to electrify homes, schools, and hospitals in Haiti.  We divert waste to illuminate Haiti.

Our network of American solar installers and various solar panel manufacturers help us locate potential modules for our Solar ReUse Program.

Each year the US generates over 13,000 tons of solar panel waste, most of which goes to landfills.

Modules donated to Brighten Haiti Solar ReUSE

Module Donation

Brighten Haiti takes end-of-life, low power, obsolete, safe, functioning silicon-based solar panels (sorry, no Cad Tel modules), from project owners, EPC’s, distributors, and manufacturers.  We aggregate and test them for safety and usable power, at a US “collection site”.  Then ship them to Haiti.

Safety is our highest priority.  We do not accept electrically unsafe modules or modules with broken glass.

Upon request, we can provide full material traceability and will remove or cover any branding to protect manufacturers from grey market sales.  Labeled as Brighten Haiti – for ReUSE in Haiti only.

Every container of modules can provide basic lighting and device charging to 540 families.

Interested in donating modules and BOS? Please get in touch by filling out the donation form.

Brighten Haiti trains young women and men to install solar energy.

Solar Apprenticeship Program

Our Apprenticeship Solar Program trains entrepreneurial individuals in Haiti interested in pursuing a solar installation career and we leverage our apprenticeship network as much as possible to provide installation for our solar projects.
